Maia Zoe

Even though wand type massagers aren’t my clit’s favorite kind of vibe, I found the Maia Zoe interesting because of the dual motors. There’s one in the head (of course) and there’s one in the handle. So, that’s kind of unique but not completely original because Cal Ex made one with dual motors first. There may be others but that’s the only other one I know of.

First, full disclosure: the first Zoe I received was defective. The charging cable’s pin did not fit into the charging port correctly. It was too loose and would not snap into place like you’d expect. The silicone around the port almost pushed it all the way back out. I could get it to intermittently work by forcefully pushing it in and jiggling it around. Clearly, something wasn’t right.

I contacted Maia and described the problem. They apologized and sent a replacement with no hassle. The new Zoe did not have the same problem. The charging pin for the new Zoe fit into place just right. When I compared the new and old charging cables, it seemed as though the pin on the old defective one was slightly shorter than the new one. So, that means, depending on how many defective ones are out there, you might end up with one. But I think Maia knows that they have an issue with the Zoe and they would probably replace it with no problem and I know PeepShow Toys will also take care of their customers.

Alright, technical difficulties aside, what did I think? When I first turned on the motor in the head I actually uttered the words, “holy shit”. I wasn’t expecting it to have that kind of power and rumble. I was fully prepared to tell you that it was buzzy and weak as fuck. But it’s nice that I can still be surprised.

Now, what about the motor in the handle? Well, let me tell you… it’s buzzier than a beehive being raided by a black bear1. And it’s pretty weak to boot. I honestly don’t see the point in having the motor in the handle when it feels so underwhelming.

The two motors are independently controlled, which is good. You can also have one turned on while the other is off, which is also good. Both motors can be on at the same time, if you happen to find a way to use it like that.

Maia Zoe back

The silicone is a nice powdery soft kind that produces little drag. They put this inexplicable area of plastic chrome on the backside of the wand. Not only does it look tacky but creates seams that didn’t need to exist.

The Zoe is waterproof and water-based lube is recommended. To my total surprise and disbelief, it comes with a storage pouch. That’s right, a lower priced brand can manage to do what luxury companies like Fun Factory can’t. It ain’t much but I thought it was a nice touch. Oh and, it’s USB rechargeable. Almost forgot to mention that.

Alright, so what did my picky-ass clit think of the Zoe? Well, obviously that buzzy-as-fuck handle end was getting nowhere near it but as for the strong, rumbly head? With the size of the head, it’s totally feasible that you could insert that end into your vag, if you felt so compelled. I did not. The Zoe was meant for my clit and only my clit.

And with a generous helping of some Good Clean Love lube, I began rubbing that rumbling head against my clit. It felt good but I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to orgasm, and then… it happened, twice. Granted, it didn’t happen as quickly as when I use something like my We-Vibe Touch but it did happen, despite the fact that the Zoe really isn’t my ideal kind of vibe. So, if it is the sort of vibe you prefer then it might just rock your socks… erm, I mean, give you good orgasms.

Maia Zoe details

So, if you want to get the Maia Zoe, get it for the pleasantly strong and rumbly motor in the head and not because it has dual motors. The handle motor is just a waste really. Besides, if you even try to insert the handle end into your vag, which I assume is the intended purpose, you’re going to have the charging port and some of that tacky plastic chrome inside you. I’m guessing vag gunk in the charging port probably isn’t good and I don’t know about you but, I don’t want that plastic chrome crap in my vag.

The Maia Zoe is a decent mid-sized wand massager with a couple of flaws. I’m not really sure who I could recommend it to. I guess anyone who’s looking for something that size with some pretty decent strong rumbly vibes. But perhaps the fact that they put that crappy little buzzy vibe in the handle drives the cost up a bit. If that’s the case, you may be able to find a similar wand massager for less.

Also, I have to mention – I have no idea why they spelled “twisty” as “twistty” and it bugs the shit out of me.

Magic Wand Rechargeable

Back in 1973 a rather unassuming back massager became a cult classic when sex education pioneer, Betty (fucking) Dodson, started teaching women how to masturbate with it. It didn’t take long for the Hitachi Magic Wand to become famous as an uber powerful sex toy and it gave many women their first orgasms. In fact, dizzyguy bought me one years ago when I was suffering from medication induced anorgasmia. He had heard Robin Quivers, on the Howard Stern show, say that it was the absolute best vibrator a woman could own. He wanted desperately to try to help me have orgasms again so he got one.

The original Hitachi Magic Wand could give me orgasms sometimes but fighting against the anorgasmia, it would often just take too long and the incredible power of the Hitachi would make me numb before I even had a chance to think about getting off. It also has a few other short-comings. There are only two insanely powerful speeds, which can be fine because it’s just what some people need, but it can be overwhelming for many others. It’s so intense that one suggested method of using it is to put a layer of cloth between you and it, like leaving your panties or even pants on.

It is also a corded massager, which could be looked at as a pro or con. The pro is that you never have to worry about loss of power but it’s a con because you’re tethered to an electrical outlet. Plus it has an unhygienic vinyl head. I say it’s unhygienic because vinyl is a porous material so it can’t be sanitized and when you’re using it on your nethers, that’s kind of important.

Hitachi continued to make the Hitachi Magic Wand for many years until 2013 when they decided that they no longer wanted their name synonymous with the queen of all vibrators.  Vibratex encouraged Hitachi to continue making it but re-brand it without the Hitachi name.  So it became the Magic Wand Original1.  From what I can tell, the Magic Wand Original is still manufactured by Hitachi and it is distributed by Vibratex.  I can’t say whether or not they made any changes to the original design of the Hitachi when they re-branded it but they have now created the next generation, which addresses many of the original’s short-comings – enter, the Magic Wand Rechargeable.

Hitachi and Magic Wand Rechargeable

The Magic Wand Rechargeable (MWR) is so much better than my original Hitachi in so many ways. First, and most importantly for me, it has four speeds versus the Hitachi Magic Wand’s two speeds. The MWR’s first (lowest) speed is wonderful. It’s powerful, yet deep and rumbly. Even the second speed agrees with me but beyond that, the third and fourth speeds are reminiscent of the Magic Wand’s ultra powerful two speeds and it’s just too much for me. But this means it will satisfy a wider range of people than the Magic Wand Original. The top two speeds will make the power-hungry happy and the two lower speeds can please those who need a little less.

They also added four patterns to the MWR. Patterns rarely do anything for me and the MWR’s are no exception. The patterns run at full power and even if I wanted to use them, it’s just too intense for me. It would have been nice if they added the ability to adjust the intensity of the patterns, which is a feature I’ve seen on other vibes so, it’s not like it’s impossible.

And what about the head of the MWR? They improved that too by making it out of body-safe nonporous silicone that can be sanitized. It also feels a lot nicer against the skin than the Magic Wand’s vinyl head.

Magic Wand Rechargeable charging port

Of course, one of the biggest improvements over the Magic Wand Original is right in the name – the MWR is… rechargeable. You’re no longer tethered to an electrical outlet, which makes it a lot easier to use wherever you please. But what if the battery dies and you need to have an orgasm right now? The MWR has you covered with a “plug and play” feature. You can use it plugged into the wall if it isn’t charged. So really, the MWR makes it easy to get off just about anywhere, anytime.

I think they made some brilliant changes to the Magic Wand Original in creating the MWR but I would like to have had a couple more features. One, it’s not waterproof, like at all. Not even splash-proof. So obviously the bath isn’t a place you can use the MWR but beyond that, it makes it a little difficult to clean.

Secondly, I would like the ability to adjust the intensity back down. The way the MWR operates is that you have to cycle through all the settings to get back to a lower one and since the strongest two settings are too much for me, this is a little annoying. Actually, it would have been really cool if you could adjust the intensity incrementally, like you can on the Swan Wand and PalmPower. Maybe they will add these features to the next iteration of this classic massager (not so subtle hint).

So I gave you the history and the deets but does the thing get me off? Well, yes but… my clit really, really prefers pin-point stimulation, which is why I love vibes like the We-Vibe Touch and Lust L2 so much. Obviously, you’re not going to get pin-point stimulation out of the MWR. Not without an attachment anyway. But broad stimulation is exactly what some people need and the MWR will deliver. I was actually able to achieve the lazy masturbator’s dream and had an orgasm with the MWR without even taking my pants off. It took a little while but it happened.

Among the various attachments you can use with the MWR are the Vixen Gee Whiz and Gee Whizzard. They are made of body-safe silicone and I would love to try them out someday. Because, when you put an insertable attachment on a powerful wand like the MWR, some pretty incredible things can happen… like, insta-squirting. You pretty much shock the shit out of your G-spot and it doesn’t know what to do. It happened to me with my Hitachi and a nasty ol’ PVC insertable attachment. Please don’t judge me, I bought it before I knew the evils of certain sex toy materials. The good news is that many attachments compatible with the MWR are made of silicone and those are the ones you want.

I have two silicone attachments that I bought to use with my Hitachi but I never got much use out of them because it was just too intense and that power transmitted into those attachments was more than my clit could handle. The Nuzzle Tip felt like it assaulted my clit when I tried it with the Hitachi and the Flutter tip wasn’t much better. But now, using them on the MWR’s lower two settings, they actually feel pretty good.

Nuzzle and Flutter tip

Wand Essentials Nuzzle Tip and Flutter Tip Magic Wand Attachments

Just how do you clean the MWR? Well, it’s tricky. According to the manual, it’s not even safe to run water over just the head so, I use a spray-on toy cleaner and then wipe it off with a damp washcloth. I use a cleaning wipe on the body. So, no part of it ever gets really wet, just slightly damp. And of course let it dry thoroughly before you use it or plug it in.

You should probably stick with water-based lube when using the MWR because some silicone-based lube can damage some silicone sex toys. Hybrid lubes are likely OK but you might want to spot test a small area first.

You’d expect a vibrating beast like the MWR to be noisy as hell but it’s really not too loud. It’s not as discreet as a teensy clit vibe but it’s a smidgen quieter than my original Hitachi. Although, it does sound like a power tool with my attachments on it.

Charging time is 3 hours and that’s supposed to give you about 3 hours of run time BUT…
I hope you can get off in under 20 minutes because it automatically shuts off at that point to avoid overheating.

The manual is 15 pages of warnings and cautions. Make sure you read them all because, safety first.
And you can rest easy knowing that your shiny new MWR is covered by a one year warranty.

I definitely think if you’re looking for a powerful wand massager the Magic Wand Rechargeable is a good choice. It costs quite a bit more than the Magic Wand Original but I think that all the improvements are worth it. The bonus is that when you’re not masturbating with it, you can use it to massage other areas of the body. Dizzyguy wanted to make sure I mentioned that it made his hand feel better after he injured it at work. He also said it felt way too powerful to use anywhere near his genitals. To each their own.

Loveo Ione

Want the tl;dr? I’m not really excited about the Loveo Ione. That’s probably putting it too mildly. It doesn’t make me seethe with anger. There’s just not much I like about it. Not much at all. You now have permission to go back to whatever you were doing but if you’d like to know why this vibe bores me, keep reading.

What is it about the Loveo Ione that I find so uninspired? Only the most important thing about a vibrator – the vibrations. They actually remind me of much lower priced Pipedream and Cal Ex vibes I’ve tried. I swear the patterns1 are the same. You’ve got the typical three steady speeds that start at nearly imperceptible to buzzier than any vibe should be at this price. In fact, I really don’t put this vibe in the same league as luxury vibes that cost around a hundred bucks. It feels far too cheap for that.

It does have one feature that tries desperately to set it apart from other lackluster vibes. There is a touch sense mode which is kind of cool, I guess. But it isn’t how I’d prefer to use it and it doesn’t save this vibe from being anything but mediocre.

In the touch sense mode, the vibe runs at about 30%2 power and when you touch the head of the vibe to your skin, it ramps up to full power. That’s it. That’s all it really does. It reminds me of the Svakom Lisa, which has a similar feature that I didn’t have much use for either.

This thing looks like a wand massager but it’s far smaller than you’d expect a wand to be. That’s not necessarily a negative thing. Just don’t expect a Magic Wand sized massager. The head is about 1.5” in diameter and the total length is about 8”. Since this vibe did absolutely nothing for my clit, I thought that using it internally for some G-spot stimulation might spare it from being a complete disappointment. I mean, it looks like it has the right shape for G-spot stim and since the head is rather small, it could be used internally. Except, you really wouldn’t want to. It didn’t do much of anything for my G-spot; not the shape, not the vibes, nothing. Just thinking about how little this vibe pleasured me elicits a sigh of frustration.

Now let’s take a moment to discuss the instructions and how the actual buttons don’t operate like they say they do. Well, that’s pretty much it really. The instructions are just wrong. Not a mistake I’d expect from a luxury vibe. The instructions tell you to press and hold the (+) button to turn it on. Nope. You press and hold the middle button. They tell you to press and hold the (-) to turn it off. Nope. You press and hold the middle button. They tell you to press and hold the middle button for 3 seconds to enter the automatic touch control mode. Nope. That turns it off, remember? The only way I could find of putting it in the touch mode was by pressing and holding the middle button to turn it on. Then pressing and holding the (+) for a couple of seconds.

Ione port

Definitely not magnetic.

Another odd thing about the instructions is the fact that they specify that this vibe is “for women”. Not sure I quite get that but OK. They also say that the charger connects magnetically. Uhm, nope again. It plugs into a port. I actually wonder if they printed the instructions for a different vibe. They do give you one useful suggestion: “If you find using the vibrator unpleasant, turn the product off and stop using it.” OK, will do. You don’t have to tell me twice.

Another thing I don’t like (as if I needed more reasons) about the Loveo Ione is the cheap looking silver plastic. It’s just so unnecessary and creates a seam where gunk can live. They could have just covered the entire vibe in silicone. It would have looked better and been more practical.

Ione

Do I like anything about this vibe? Well, the silicone is nice. It’s soft and silky. And it comes with a decent storage pouch that I’ll probably use for something else. It’s USB rechargeable and comes with an outlet adapter, which I’ll also probably use for other things. I didn’t find any mention of it on the packaging or in the instructions but the product description on the website says it’s waterproof. So, that’s good if it’s true. It comes in a sturdy box that gives the impression that you’re getting a high-end luxury vibe but as I said, I don’t feel like this vibe belongs in the same price range as luxury vibes.

Ione box

I can’t really recommend the Loveo Ione. I just didn’t much like it. I have other vibes in the same price range that are infinitely more enjoyable. I’d say if they cut the price in half then it might match what you’re actually getting. If you like buzzy vibrations, don’t mind cleaning gunk out of seams, think the touch control mode would be the coolest thing ever and don’t mind spending more than you should then you might just like this vibe. Otherwise, I suggest passing on this one.

Shibari Halo

My first vibrator was a Hitachi Magic Wand. Why did I start out with such a powerhouse? I was struggling with anorgasmia as a side effect of medication and dizzyguy wanted desperately to help me. He had heard a woman on a popular radio show say that it was the best vibrator ever. I didn’t know anything about sex toys back then but I really wanted to try something… anything that could help me have orgasms again. It did work, sometimes. The problem with the Hitachi (now known as the Original Magic Wand) is that it’s really quite buzzy and crazy powerful with only two speeds to choose from. If, on the rare occasion, I could get off quickly then it worked just fine. But if it took me awhile to reach orgasm, I would just get numb and that terrible itchy feeling would set in and I could just forget about getting off at that point.Wand size comparison

The Magic Wand might be a classic but it has so many shortcomings, including the rather unhygienic vinyl head. And that’s probably why so many companies have made their own versions of this classic wand massager with improvements like variable speeds, patterns, silicone heads and some are even now rechargeable and waterproof. One of these “new and improved” wand massagers is the Shibari HALO. It has almost all of the features a lot of people look for in a wand massager. The reason I say “almost” is because like the Hitachi, it only has 2 speeds, though the vibration is far less buzzy.

Some descriptions (even right on the box) say that the Shibari HALO has 10 speeds but that’s inaccurate. There are two speeds of steady vibration and 8 patterns of pulsating vibrations. But the HALO is still a big improvement over the Hitachi for a couple of other reasons. First, it’s made entirely of nonporous, phthalates free materials. The head is silicone and the handle is plastic. The next thing that many would consider an advantage is that it’s rechargeable and waterproof. Now, I think corded massagers have their place but I do concede that being waterproof makes the HALO much easier to clean and if you are so inclined, you can use it in the bath or shower. However, I do think you can get more power out of corded massagers like the PalmPower and of course, you never have to worry about the battery dying.

So, now that I have three wand massagers in my possession, they compare like this:

wand comparison table

The Shibari HALO isn’t exactly the perfect vibrator for me but then I doubt that wand massagers in general are going to be perfect, even though I love the PalmPower. The Shibari HALO, like many wand massagers, has a rather large head so, it covers nearly the entire upper half of my vulva. This creates very broad stimulation and for some folks, that’s exactly what they need. I just think that I need something that can fit down in between my labia and concentrate the vibration more directly onto my clitoris. And that’s probably why I like the PalmPower so much. Its head is much smaller than that of the HALO or Hitachi.

So, since the HALO doesn’t create the exact kind of stimulation I prefer, it seems to take a lot longer for me to reach orgasm but here’s the good part… once I finally do get there, the orgasms are very intense. I’m not sure if it’s because of the long build up or what but the HALO does make me come hard, even if it takes longer than I’d really like. I also have to masturbate with it a bit differently than I do with other vibes. Normally, I like a light touch with a powerful vibrator. That doesn’t really work with the HALO so, I’ve found that with it, I have to use a lot of pressure and here’s the good news – the vibration doesn’t seem to dampen under pressure at all. So, that’s going to be perfect for those who are looking for broad stimulation and like to apply pressure.

The HALO’s vibrations aren’t exactly rumbly but I wouldn’t call them buzzy either. They don’t numb me too much. Only if I’ve been using it for quite a long time. I do think the patterns are pretty awful. The rhythm and cadence are totally wrong on all of them. The pauses in between pulses are too long and the pulsations aren’t consistent enough to do anything for me. This might just be a personal thing. If you like patterns, you might like these. I’m not much of a pattern gal so maybe that’s why I think they suck. There is this one fluttering-like vibration that’s in a couple of the patterns that I wish was a setting all by itself… just that steady flutter. But trying to use the patterns just so I can intermittently feel that flutter is frustrating. So for me, the HALO really is just a 2 speed wand massager.

Halo buttons

The Shibari HALO has two buttons. One turns it on and off and the other steps through the functions. The button is very sensitive and I’m always turning it on by accident, especially when I’m cleaning it. This could be a problem for some who need discretion. It definitely isn’t as loud as the Hitachi or the PalmPower but it’s not as quiet as my little clit vibes either. I was pleasantly surprised that you don’t feel the vibration excessively in the handle. I mean, it’s there but it doesn’t numb my hand.

The colored portion of the HALO is made of silicone and the white handle is plastic. The silicone has a matte finish with hardly any drag and gets fairly slippery with lube. One thing I really like about the head of this wand is that it’s totally smooth. There are no ridges or grooves like you often find on other wands that makes cleaning a pain. Since it’s made of body-safe, nonporous materials and it’s waterproof, it’s easy to clean. Soap and water works, as does a toy cleaner. If you need to sanitize it, you can wash it in a 10% bleach solution and rinse well with water. Water-based lube is probably the best choice since some silicone-based lube can damage some silicone sex toys. But this isn’t always the case and I have successfully mixed the two. If you feel like experimenting with silicone-based or hybrid lube, do a spot test in an out of the way area.

Halo cord

The charging port is on the opposite side of the buttons. It comes with a USB cable and I applaud Shibari for including an A/C adapter so you can charge it from a wall outlet. While charging, the buttons will light up and the light will go out when charging is complete, which takes about 3 hours. Run time is supposed to be up to 3 hours depending on the power setting.

There are four attachments available from Shibari but I don’t think they’re meant to fit the HALO. They are all made of PVC anyway and who wants that? PVC is a porous material and likely contains phthalates. Attachments made to fit the Hitachi are too big for the HALO.Halo Box

The Shibari HALO comes in 3 colors – pink, purple and black. The packaging is basic and you don’t get a storage pouch. The HALO is covered by a one year warranty.

Of the three wands I now own, I still like the PalmPower the most but I do wish it was built more like the HALO which has a complete one piece silicone head rather than a removable cap like the PalmPower has. But when it comes to the best fit for my vulva and the ability to really vary the intensity, the PalmPower still comes out on top.

Then again, if you’re looking for a waterproof1, rechargeable wand and you like broad stimulation and pressure, I think the Shibari HALO could be a good choice. It’s not as powerful as the Hitachi or PalmPower but it’s decent and I think most would be satisfied with the strength of the vibration. Well, maybe you’ve already heard me raving about this thing but I really do love it. The PalmPower is everything you wish your Magic Wand style massager could be. It’s smaller, lighter and quieter. It has a silicone head and most importantly, it’s powerful.

I’m going to have to compare the PalmPower to the Hitachi Magic Wand because, that’s the only other wand style massager I have. Plus people are familiar with it and let’s face it, most other wand massagers have been modeled after it. I believe the PalmPower beats the Hitachi hands down and I really can’t see myself using the Hitachi anymore now that I have the PalmPower.

As already mentioned, it’s significantly smaller and lighter. The Hitachi is 12.25 inches long while the PalmPower is only 7 inches. The head of it is smaller (1.5 inches in diameter) and so, it fits down in between my labia better. The PalmPower is louder than most of my other vibrators but it’s worlds quieter than the Hitachi. The cord is longer and it has a removable silicone cap that’s easily cleaned. I always hated that the Hitachi’s head was PVC (a porous material that can’t be sanitized). So, all those things are vast improvements over the Hitachi but let’s talk about what’s really important… power.

I’ve already said it once and I’ll say it again, the PalmPower is fucking amazing. The power of this thing is so far and beyond any other vibrator I own, except the Hitachi (and Wahl), and the PalmPower can definitely hold its own against it. I would say that the Hitachi is a bit more powerful but when you consider all the advantages the PalmPower has over Hitachi, it easily comes out ahead. This is the vibrator I use when I don’t want to screw around and I want to have an orgasm now. There is no gradual approach to orgasm when I use this thing. I put it on my clit and it’s just insta-gasm; the kind that makes my whole body involuntarily convulse.

I really enjoy using the PalmPower when I’m having sex with dizzyguy. It fits in between us so much better than the big clumsy Hitachi and since I don’t orgasm from internal stimulation alone, when I use it on my clit during sex, I’m guaranteed to have them – as in, more than one. In fact, when I start to come, if I continue holding the PalmPower against my clit, the orgasm just seems to go on and on until I can’t take it anymore and I have to stop. Now, I can’t promise that you’ll have this kind of response to the the PalmPower but I am confident in saying that if it’s power you’re looking for then you really can’t go wrong with this massager.

The PalmPower has been designed using PowerBullet technology, which is also used in brands like Leaf, Leaf+, Lux, Swan and Jopen Vanity.  I have to say, the PalmPower has made me a believer in the PowerBullet technology but they’ve definitely done something different with the PalmPower because I have the Fresh+ and while it’s not a wimpy vibe by any means, it doesn’t even come close to the PalmPower’s awesome strength.

palmpower3

The PalmPower has one button and you press and hold to turn it on. Continue to hold it to increase the intensity. The intesity is continuously adjustable. There aren’t preset levels so, you can really fine tune it to what feels best to you. This is yet another huge improvement over the Hitachi, which only gives you two speeds to choose from. At the low range of intensity, you feel the vibration more in the handle than in the head but once you increase it just a bit, you can feel the vibration transfer into the head.  The vibration is strong in the handle.  It doesn’t make my hand go numb but it’s something to consider if you think it would bother you.  To turn it off simply press the button.

There are a couple of slightly annoying little issues with the controls. If you just want to increase the intensity a little bit and you press the button too briefly, it shuts off.  You also can’t adjust the intensity back down. You have to shut it off and ramp back up again to where you think you wanted it. As much as I love the PalmPower I think they could greatly improve upon it by giving it two buttons. Perhaps + and – buttons where the + turns it on and increases intensity and the – decreases intensity and turns it off. BMS Factory, if you’re listening… please give the next generation PalmPower two buttons. Other than that, I really have no complaints about this massager.

Another way BMS Factory improved on the Hitachi is that the PalmPower has a removable silicone cap. It easily just pops right off and you can clean it with antibacterial soap and water. If you need to sanitize it, a 10% bleach solution can be used or, it can be boiled for a couple of minutes. The wand itself is in no way waterproof or even splash proof. So, don’t even think about trying to clean it in the sink. I simply wipe it down with an antibacterial wipe and that’s really all it needs. Since the cap is silicone, you’ll probably want to use water-based lube because some silicone lube can damage some silicone sex toys.

Another complaint that people always have about the Hitachi is that the cord is too short. Yet again, BMS Factory built a better mousetrap… uhm, massager. The PalmPower has an 8′ 3” cord where the Hitachi’s cord is only 6 feet long. This makes maneuvering around the bed much easier. Since the PalmPower is sold worldwide, it comes with several outlet adapters for different countries.

The neck of the PalmPower is somewhat flexible and I was asked if this would prevent someone from applying pressure to the clit. I can’t see anyone having a problem applying the amount of pressure they want. The head only deflects just a small amount.

palmpower2

There are 4 attachments available for the PalmPower and they come in sets. One set is called PalmBody and the other, PalmSensual. The PalmBody attachments are meant for massaging parts of the body other than the genitals but there’s certainly nothing stopping you from getting creative with them.Palmbody

The PalmBody set includes the PalmFinger attachment which is meant to massage, you guessed it, the fingers but again, feel free to experiment. The PalmCurve attachment is for massaging arms and legs or, anywhere else you damn well please.

The PalmSensual attachments are more like obvious sex toys. The PalmBelow is for G-spot stimulation and the PalmDual is dual stimulator. palmsensualThe shapes of the PalmSensual attachments are reminiscent of Swan and Jopen Vanity vibrators and that’s not surprising since, BMS Factory manufactures both brands.

I honestly haven’t had much success with the attachments. The PalmDual doesn’t work for me but that’s a matter of incompatibility with my anatomy, which is a problem I run into often with dual stimulator or rabbit style vibrators. The PalmBelow gives me a fair amount of G-spot stimulation but since the neck (of the attachment) is so flexible, I can’t apply as much pressure as I’d like. I’ve experimented some with the PalmBody attachments on my clit but truthfully, the standard silicone cap that comes with it works best for me.

The PalmPower wasn’t even on my radar when the good folks at BMS Factory offered to send me one in exchange for a review.  I hadn’t heard anything about it and as amazing as it is, that’s a real shame.  I really didn’t have much interest in wand massagers because I already had the Hitachi and figured I didn’t need another wand massager.  How wrong I was.

The PalmPower is just plain awesome and you power queens out there need to get one of these. I was never too thrilled with my Hitachi Magic Wand but I absolutely love my PalmPower. BMS Factory fixed everything that sucks about big clunky wand massagers and yet somehow, didn’t sacrifice power. Since it’s A/C powered there are no batteries or recharging to worry about. You just plug it in and go… and for me that means insta-gasms.

BMS Factory is the manufacturer behind well known brands like Swan, Jopen Vanity and Leaf so, they have an established reputation for quality… and I’ll let you in on a little secret, the Cal Ex Couture Collection Inspire is the same massager. BMS Factory manufactures it for Cal Ex.

The only real difference is color and I assume that the Inspire does not come with the outlet adapters that are included with the PalmPower.  So, if you want one for international use, get the PalmPower.  SheVibe has them priced the same and if you’re interested in purchasing either one, please consider getting it from them by clicking through one of my affiliate links.  In doing so, I’ll make a small commission at no extra cost to you and that helps to keep me blogging.

You guys, this thing is fucking amazing (and I hardly ever curse about how good something is). I get so excited when a sex toy is this good and that’s why I write these “First Impressions” posts. I just can’t wait for my full review to spread the news about an awesome product. The PalmPower is one of those. This thing wasn’t even on my radar when the good people at BMS Factory offered to send me one in exchange for an honest review. I hadn’t heard anything about it. Well, I’m here to fix that. You need to know IMG_1625about this vibrator.

The PalmPower is everything you wish the Hitachi Magic Wand could be. It’s smaller, lighter and quieter. It has a removable silicone cap1 that can be cleaned and the power…. oh my god… the power. It gives the Hitachi a run for its money. I wasn’t even interested in wand massagers because I figured since I had the Hitachi, I didn’t need anything else. How wrong I was.

So, have I made it clear that I love this thing? Let me tell you why. I, like many women, never have orgasms from internal stimulation alone. That means, without assistance I don’t orgasm during sex. Sex is still awesome but it’s even more so when I can stimulate my clit at the same time and the PalmPower does that exceedingly well. It’s so much smaller than the Hitachi that it fits in between us easier. I crank this powerhouse up to full throttle and it’s like it rips the orgasms right out of me. There’s no build up, it’s just insta-gasm. And if I continue to hold it to my clit, the orgasm just keeps going. I must look and sound like a woman possessed while it’s happening but dizzyguy doesn’t seem to mind. He just has a hard time holding on for the ride.

I’m telling you, power queens need to get the PalmPower. And I’ll let you in on a little secret the Cal Ex Couture Collection Inspire is the exact same vibrator. BMS Factory (the same people behind Swan and Leaf) manufactures them for Cal Ex. SheVibe has them priced the same so it really just depends on which color scheme you like better. 2 I gotta say, it’s worth every single penny.

The Wahl Massager is no longer available at any of my affiliated retailers. In fact, Wahl really doesn’t want their massager sold or used as a sex toy. Shame. It’s so good at being one.

It looks kind of like a glue gun, sounds like a power tool and you’d never suspect that it’s a sex toy and that’s probably because it isn’t. The Wahl is a body massager that’s been defiled in much the same way as the legendary Hitachi Magic Wand. But the Wahl isn’t nearly as well known as the Hitachi and that’s really too bad because in my opinion, the Wahl beats the Hitachi, hands down. The first time I used the Wahl, I had my second squirting orgasm, ever… and that was from clitoral stimulation alone with no G spot involvement whatsoever.

I just have to say, the Wahl Massager absolutely blew my mind. This thing means business. It has the kind of deep rumbling vibration that reaches down and grabs hold of your internal clitoris and takes it on the ride of its life. This isn’t hyperbole. My experience with it has been that good. The rumbling vibration is why I think the Wahl is better than the Hitachi. The Hitachi is buzzy compared to the Wahl and when I use it, if I don’t come fast, I just get numb and then I can forget about having orgasms until the feeling comes back to my vulva. The Wahl didn’t numb me, granted it didn’t take long for it to give me an explosive, wet orgasm. Another thing I prefer about the Wahl, is that you can achieve more directed, somewhat pin-point stimulation. The Hitachi gives broad stimulation and it vibrates the entire vulva.

wahl vibratorWhen I received the Wahl, I was kind of disappointed. I wasn’t sure what the various attachments were made of until I had them in my hands and saw “PVC” stamped onto the backs of them. One of my goals for this blog is to only ever recommend sex toys made of nonporous, body safe materials. PVC meets neither of those requirements. It can sometimes be made without the use of phthalates but most commonly they are used as a plastic softening agent. So, I contacted Wahl to ask them if they were using phthalate free PVC and the engineer replied that he didn’t know. That’s comforting… they don’t know what their products are being made of. Given that the attachments don’t meet my body safe requirement, I wondered how I could review it. Then I had an idea. I asked dizzyguy to swipe some nitrile gloves from work. I cut the index finger off of the glove and stretched it over the Wahl’s Spot Applicator and voilà! I had a safe way to use the Wahl and I could recommend it to my readers after all.

From the moment I touched the Wahl to my clitoris, I felt like I was coming. It’s intense and I had to very lightly touch the Spot Applicator to my clit. My legs began to shake uncontrollably and I wasn’t sure if I could handle it but I kept going. And that’s when something amazing happened. The pressure that builds just prior to orgasm started much sooner and lasted longer than usual. It allowed me to stay in that state and really appreciate the feeling. It felt like the release was going to be powerful and amazing and when the dam finally broke, I had one of the strongest orgasms I’ve ever had and I squirted all over my bed for only the second time in my life.

I laid there in astonishment. I couldn’t believe that this thing made me squirt with no internal stimulation at all. That had only happened to me once before with the We-Vibe Salsa but that orgasm wasn’t even close to as powerful and only a small amount was expelled from me. After my session with the Wahl, I ended up with a large wet spot that soaked all the way down through my quilt and sheets, to the (thankfully) waterproof mattress protector. I got so excited over what had just happened that I wanted to share it with the world so I wrote a post about it. I felt like people needed to know about this thing. I would be doing my readers a disservice if I didn’t educate them about the wonders of the Wahl Massager. Imagine my surprise when a reader commented that it makes her squirt too.

This thing is loud and it’s ugly but when it can produce such powerful, explosive orgasms, who cares? And since it’s A/C powered, it will never leave you frustrated over mid-session dead batteries. It comes with 8 attachments but in my opinion only the Spot Applicator is suitable for clitoral stimulation. You are, of course, free to give the other attachments a try but I just can’t see the nitrile glove trick working with them. Wahl really doesn’t want you using their massager on your genitals and they warn against it in the operating instructions. But then, rules are made to be broken. There are a couple more interesting warnings like: Do not operate where oxygen is being administered. And, it shouldn’t be used within six inches of an implantable cardiac device.

The Wahl is about 7 1/2 inches from the top of the unit to the bottom of its handle and it has a  9ft cord.  It’wahl vibrators kind of awkward and a little heavy. I felt more comfortable holding it at the top rather than the handle. Holding it that way quieted it down a little too. This isn’t something you’re going to be able to use without anyone knowing but you could always just say you were using it on sore muscles. As for the heat attachment, I don’t know that it’s necessary unless you really do want to use it on sore muscles. It’s made of some kind of metal. I’m guessing aluminum. It’s a big round flat shape so it really wouldn’t provide the pin point stimulation that I prefer. The heat function and the vibration both have two settings, high and low. Low vibrates at 120 Hz and high at 60 Hz, which seems counter intuitive but it really feels like the intensity increases at the lower frequency.

The Wahl is a real bargain and it’s because of the price plus the immense pleasure it provides, I can enthusiastically recommend it. I’d even go so far as to call it a toy box must have. No other sex toy on the market is going to feel like this thing feels. Even if it turns out that it’s not your thing (which I personally can’t imagine but we are all different), you haven’t wasted a lot of money and you can still use it on aching muscles. For its potential to induce powerful, squirting orgasms I think it’s definitely worth checking out.

Update:  The company that sent me the Wahl for review no longer carries it and none of my other affiliates do either.  You can find the Wahl at Walgreens and on Amazon.  Unfortunately, I won’t make a commission from purchases at those places.  So, if you get the Wahl based on my review and you love it, please consider coming back and shopping with one of my affiliates for your next sex toy.  Thanks.

The Wahl Massager was provided by a retailer I am no longer affiliated with, in exchange for an unbiased review.
