Blush Gaia Eco

I wanted to review the Blush Novelties Gaia Eco Biodegradable Recyclable Vibrator for a few reasons. First, it’s (way) under $50. It’s that classic vibrator design. And it’s made of starch-based bioplastic.

What the hell is starch-based bioplastic? Uhm, I’m not really sure. But what I do know, because I asked a Blush rep, is that it’s as nonporous and nontoxic as ABS plastic.

Blush Gaia Eco featuresAnd apparently, according to Blush, the Gaia Eco “is created using less energy and creates less greenhouse gas emissions than any other sex toy on the market.” That’s why I chose to review this particular vibrator over the countless others of the same design.

I also wanted to review the Gaia Eco because it uses 2 AA batteries which tend to make vibes more powerful than the more commonly used AAA batteries. Plus, I like the idea of the twist dial control. I have another inexpensive, battery operated vibrator with a twist dial and I think the variable speed is better than a button that gives you three set speeds.

First impressions out of the box started with, wow and ended with, puzzlement. I took the Gaia Eco out of its minimal packaging, popped in the batteries, turned the dial and thought:  Wow, this thing is pretty strong and rumbly, especially for a battery operated vibe.

Then I noticed this weird loose ring thing right above the cap. This is where I became puzzled. Why did they do that? It’s kind of annoying because even with the cap closed tightly, that ring is still loose. You can spin it around. So, I guess it would suck if you lost it and it also provides an area for lube and vag gunk to live.

Blush Gaia Eco open

Seriously, what’s with that ring?

You could remove the ring and carefully wipe that part of the vibe clean. In fact, you should be careful whenever cleaning this vibe anyway because it’s splash-proof only.

You can clean this vibe (don’t submerge it) with soap and water or a toy cleaner. Any kind of lube will work. It doesn’t come with a travel pouch but a vibe like this would be good for travel because you can pack it separately from the batteries and not have to worry about a TSA incident.

Alright, now for the real test. Does the Gaia Eco impress me enough to add it to my Sex Toys $50 and Under That Don’t Suck™ list?

Well, first of all, I’d like to mention that you can use this vibe internally and externally (but don’t use anally). The thing is, for me personally, the shape of this vibe does nothing for my vag. Some folks might like it though. This is just a preference thing, really. It’s not going to provide much girth either at 1” in diameter.

Because of my personal preferences, I mainly consider vibes like the Gaia Eco to be clitoral vibes. So, how did it feel on my clit? Lets just say that after the first orgasm I was left thinking: did a $15 vibrator really just do that? The vibration is nice and rumbly and I found that I didn’t need to turn the dial up to high. It took a little longer to achieve orgasm than it does with my favorite clit vibe but maybe because of that, the orgasms felt more intense. And yes, I said “orgasms” because I tried for my magic number – 3 in a sesh – and The Gaia Eco didn’t let me down. Also, some folks will be interested to know that the vibration doesn’t seem to dampen under pressure.

Blush Gaia Eco display -colors

So, what’s the verdict? Can I put the Blush Gaia Eco in my Sex Toys $50 and Under That Don’t Suck™ category? I want to scream, “yes” but I can only say, “yes.” And that’s because of that weird loose ring. Some might find it annoying. But I don’t think it’s a total deal breaker. I just wish they hadn’t made it that way. Maybe they can take this feedback and update the design to eliminate that ring and possibly make it waterproof too. Then I could enthusiastically recommend it as a great toy under $50.

I would also like to share a few words about Blush Novelties. They haven’t always been a company beloved by some bloggers. There was once a little dust-up between Blush and another company that is widely respected in the industry. That angered a lot of bloggers.

They also still do make toys out of porous materials that I don’t recommend but lately, I’m excited about Blush’s new offerings. I think they’re focusing more and more on body-safe nonporous materials and that’s awesome. Especially so when you consider that they tend to produce toys on the more affordable end of the spectrum. I am considering several new Blush toys that I’d like to review for you.

Blush once acknowledged the role us bloggers have had in helping them design toys that we can approve of. But I also think there’s something else going on. Blush has hired one very well-known and respected sex educator, Ducky Doolittle, and I’m sure that she has a lot of input on product development and design.

So, I can comfortably say that at this point, I like the direction that Blush is going in. Because we need more lower cost, body-safe toys that don’t suck.

Think $14.99 is a good price for a vibe? Try taking 10% off with code: DIZZY

I previously reviewed the Womanizer Pro W500 and despite the awful name and gaudy looks, I did enjoy it. But after a short while, it just sat in a drawer collecting dust. I have many other toys that I prefer to play with. I saw some #TeamAmazeballs folks talking on Twitter and someone mentioned the Womanizer. @AfterrDarkk chimed in that she’d really love to try it but someone had already claimed it.

I thought, well shit… I have one I don’t use and maybe it could really help this gal. See, she has hypertonic Pelvic Floor Dysfunction (which she talks about on my other blog) and it makes all manner of sexual endeavors a challenge for her but she thought that the Womanizer might allow her to have orgasms without the pain. So I said, “what the hell” and sent mine to her. The idea of  having her review it on my blog as part of #TeamAmazeballs was really an afterthought, but I’m glad that she agreed to do it. I think it’s interesting and important to get different perspectives.

12 Rounds With A Womanizer

Soft, sleek and quiet, the Womanizer Pro W500 has been on my wish list since it first came to my attention. It’s advertised as a toy that “makes it possible to stimulate the clitoris without direct contact, thus avoiding over stimulation and hypersensitivity.” My pelvic floor is already overstimulated. It’s hypertonic, meaning there is no voluntary muscle relaxation. Orgasms are a thing of the past for me. It was my belief the Womanizer would be gentle enough, with its mild vibration and pulsating air, to bring me to orgasm. Keep reading to see the score card.

For starters, I have a tiny clitoris. Getting the silicone head to seat properly so the clitoris is inside the head is a challenge because there’s not a whole lot of peeking out going on. I had my hood pierced in 1998 to assist in orgasm. It helped me immeasurably.

It was a battle of epic proportions. The Womanizer was designed to give me an orgasm. I was hoping for plural events. My body is designed to orgasm. I have enjoyed many orgasms in my life. It’s something I really miss. My expectations were high. I trained for masturbation by going through a series of different preparations before use.

How do you prepare to masturbate? Don’t you just do it? Most people do. They feel like masturbating, go have a little fun, get off and clean up. I can’t approach this event with such a whimsical attitude. I really wish I could. I have to relax the pelvic floor beforehand. On a side note the best exercise for the pelvic floor is orgasm. That was my goal. Masturbation is an exercise? Count me in! Preparation can include a multitude of choices or a combination of many. A hot bath, a TENS unit, muscle relaxer, lidocaine gel inserted deep into my vagina near the cervix, or even a Valium glycerin suppository.

Round 1:  First Time Use

What I was expecting and what I received in return was rather odd. I started out on the lowest setting. The noise level is so soft I wasn’t sure it was even powered up. There was a very slight tingly sensation that was enjoyable. When I increased the speed to level 2, I started feeling extremely aroused. I stopped and started several times through this process. Arousal relaxes the pelvic floor as well.  I finally set the level on the third setting. I had an orgasm without a spasm, but I did ejaculate a small amount of fluid. This was a good start.

Round 2: Sudden Urge to Masturbate

I tried this thing called edging. Started at the lowest setting for 4 minutes and worked my way up to the third setting resting in between settings for 2 minutes. I even set a timer. On the third setting I had the same result, as the first go round; a small amount of ejaculate with no spasm. So I amped it up to the 4th setting and had a mini orgasm. A slight and very small twitch. I wasn’t over the top YES! I DID IT! It was more like an orgasm I wasn’t able to ride to the finish. Again there was some ejaculate. However, within 30 minutes I had to use my TENS unit to relax my pelvic floor because my ass hurt.

Round 3, 4 and 5:  Make It Happen

Because of my previous experiences with the fluid leakage, I used a catheter to make sure my bladder was empty. I wasn’t 100% confident it wasn’t urine. I can officially say it wasn’t. I felt the inability to follow through with the orgasm might be due to my fear of wetting myself during masturbation. I also have bladder issues. Additionally, I placed a large folded towel underneath my bottom to absorb any fluid. I was determined it was going to happen. I went three rounds in one session covering about 30 minutes.

faucetSomething happened. I went through all setting levels during this session. I leaked and rested. I squirted and rested. Then I gushed. There’s no other explanation for it. And Omigerd! I didn’t know that much fluid was even possible to release. Much to my disappointment, there was no spasm or twitch. I was going for a full-bodied orgasm where you can feel your pulse inside your vagina throbbing afterward. I didn’t make it this session, but I didn’t have any pain following this stellar experience.

Round 6, 7 and 8:  It Happens

I will admit to being somewhat fearful of going the forced orgasm route simply because of the resulting pain that can follow. But I was willing to take the chance. Going almost 100 days between orgasms is a bitch. Sexual frustration is part of my life. My body is still aroused. I still get wet. I still want to have wild monkey sex. I started out masturbating with the intention of increasing blood flow directly to my clitoris.

I went for broke this time. I took no resting breaks in between sessions. I didn’t relocate the Womanizer. I skipped starting out slow and went straight to the highest setting. Within 10 seconds, I gushed and rode it out. And gushed again. Then I had an epic orgasm. Full bodied in less than 5 minutes.  Tingles and throbs and twitching everywhere. The kind where my eyes rolled back in my head, my body perspired, my respiration and pulse increased. I was too physically drained to shout out my success but it left me with a smile on my face and no pain in my ass.

Round 9, 10 and 11:  Oops I did it again.

I repeated the exact same process to see if I could recreate the same results. I wanted another orgasm but without the gushing. Don’t get me wrong, it feels fantastic but that’s not a normal biological response for my body. I can count on one hand the times it has happened to me in my entire sexually active life. I received the same results. Gushing. Orgasm. Smile. No pain. Goal achieved.

Twelfth and Final Round

I tried several different positions during use as recommended on their website. I cannot use this thing without gushing. It’s not possible. However, the orgasm that follows is next world. There is the occasional pain in the ass that follows, but that’s my fault. During the last round I gave myself 3 orgasms. After the first orgasm, there was no more gushing. The Womanizer knocked me out with a combination of pulsating air and light vibration.

I can’t gush enough about the Womanizer Pro W500.

BMS Rain Bullet

I set about on a mission to try to find more inexpensive sex toys that don’t totally suck. I knew this would be a difficult task but it would be one that I owe to my readers. So, I requested a couple of low-priced vibrators. The first I reviewed ended up being not so bad. But this one? I’m afraid we have a dud (sad trombone).

I had hope for the Rain Textured Bullet and was excited to try it when I saw that it’s made by BMS Factory – the company that makes the incredible Swan Wand and inventors of PowerBullet technology that makes their vibes strong and rumbly. I was really curious to see what they could do with a cheap, single AAA battery-powered bullet vibe.

Turns out, they couldn’t do much. And maybe I expect too much. Perhaps there’s a limit to the power and rumble you can get out of a vibe running on a single AAA battery. But my clit doesn’t seem to care about the Rain Bullet’s limitations. It wants absolutely nothing to do with it. If my clit could yawn from boredom and frustration, it would.

The surface texture, which is kind of like little droplets of water only it’s hard plastic, feels kind of interesting but the vibrations are weak, buzzy, shallow and unremarkable1. Now for me, this qualifies as a major fail but… your clit might be different from mine. It might not want strong and rumbly. It might like milder, surface level vibrations. In that case, this might not be a bad buy for you. But definitely stay away if you’re even halfway to being a power queen. The Rain Bullet will do nothing but annoy you.

I like the color choices, especially the blue but that’s not nearly enough to make me change my mind about this vibe. I simply can’t give it my stamp of approval.

It has 3 steady vibration levels, 4 patterns and it’s waterproof. The package says it’s powered by PowerBullet but it sure doesn’t feel like my other PowerBullet vibes. You care for the Rain Bullet like any other plastic vibe and for more on that go here. Any kind of lube is compatible.

BMS Rain Textured Bullet

I know this is a rather short review but I really don’t have much more that I can say about this vibe2. Even when you factor in the low price, I still find it underwhelming. If you’re really sensitive, you might like the Rain Textured Bullet but otherwise, don’t even consider getting it because it’ll only piss you off.  My advice, really?  Save up to get a We-Vibe Tango.  It’s worth the investment. But never fear my dear readers, my quest to find lower priced toys that don’t totally suck will continue and you know that I’ll be honest about it if they do.

Pleasure Works Silky G

I wasn’t sure if I was going to like the Pleasure Works Silky G vibe. I mean, it has a pokey, pointy tip and runs on AAA batteries, which means it wasn’t going to be super powerful and it would probably be buzzy to boot. But I was talking to the folks over at (a retailer I am no longer affiliated with) and mentioned that I’d like to try some less expensive toys and hopefully, find some that don’t suck, which is tough to do, by the way. They said that they get a lot of good feedback on the Silky G so I said, “why not?” I wasn’t all that optimistic but then… I tried it.

I settled in with the Silky G, my waterproof sex blanket, a tube of my newest fave water-based lube and my beloved clit vibe, the Lust L2. First, I used the Silky G on my clit and it wasn’t bad but didn’t blow me away either. I probably could have gotten off with it if I’d really tried but I wanted to save the orgasm for when I paired it up with the L2. It had been a long time since I had a blended orgasm. Not that I’ve had trouble having them, I’ve just been lazy and only using clit vibes lately.

I lubed it up and pushed it into my vagina, honestly expecting the pointy tip to be uncomfortable but it wasn’t at all, not in the least. I do know that some folks hate pokey G-spot toys though and that’s something to consider. It hit my G-spot like it had laser guided precision. I started moving it around and thought, “oh, that’s nice I think I’ll turn on the vibration” and once I did, I instantly felt that sensation like I needed to urinate, which is common for a lot of folks when G-spotting. I had a strong hunch that the Silky G just might give me a lovely blended orgasm.

I couldn’t lube up my L2 fast enough and when I got everything in place and started moving each vibe around in the ways that usually lead to orgasm, the dual stim felt incredible. My PC muscles contracted hard and it felt like I was building up to a strong orgasm. Then, instead of thrusting with the Silky G, I started twisting it from side to side a little and it was like someone opened the flood gates. My orgasm exploded and I squirted all over my sex blanket. Good thing I decided to use it.

It’s true, the Silky G is pointy and will be irritating to some people and yes, it’s kind of buzzy at the highest speed and no, it’s probably not going to make power or girth1 fanatics very happy but it sure shocked the shit out of me. And at less than $20, I really didn’t expect that.

Silky G dial

The Silky G is about as simple as a vibrator gets – no bells and whistles. Just an old-school-like dial on the base that adjusts the speed from low to high. I actually kind of like how uncomplicated it is. Plus, you’re not stuck on 3 set speeds, you can adjust the speed incrementally to fine tune it to exactly where you like it. Another nice thing? It comes in colors other than pink and purple.

This vibe is made of hard plastic and has a nice silky finish – hence the name, I guess. It’s waterproof and fairly easy to clean but it does have an annoying seam on the shaft. It doesn’t bother me when I’m using it but I’m annoyed that it’s there because it can collect lube and vag gunk2. Since the Silky G is plastic, your lube choices are not limited at all. Use any kind you like. Silicone-based, water-based and hybrid lubes are all compatible with this vibe.

Silky G vibe

For under 20 bucks, I really can’t complain too much about the Pleasure Works Silky G. Sure, it’s all those things I mentioned – pointy, buzzy and not terribly powerful but you know what? It still gives me wonderful blended orgasms, despite all that. Obviously, this is not a MONA 2 caliber vibe but again… it’s less than 20 bucks!

I might not recommend the Silky G to someone who hasn’t perfected the art of finding their G-spot, simply because I believe that a toy with a larger, broader head makes it easier but once you’ve got the hang of stimulating your G-spot, I think you’ll zero right in on it with the Silky G. So, if you want something basic and cheap that doesn’t totally suck, give the Silky G a try.

WeVibe Pleasure Mates

I’ve never wanted to ever give anything but praise to We-Vibe because they make two of my favorite vibrators – the Touch and Tango. I think their quality is superb and it’s like they really listen to what their customers are saying. I love this company so much for giving me the clit vibe of my dreams. The Touch has NEVER let me down and the Tango makes a splendid backup for when my Touch is dead or when I use another toy with a bullet cavity.

As much as I love this company, I just can’t sugar coat the fact that I wasn’t blown away by the Glow and Dusk. I really wanted to like them but there’s just no chemistry between the three of us. Our escapades together lack that certain something special that makes me really love a sex toy.

It’s been widely known that the We-Vibe Tango pairs up marvelously with toys that have a bullet cavity, like Tantus’ vibrating dildos. I suppose We-Vibe finally caught on to the fact that people love sticking the Tango inside other toys so, the Glow and Dusk were born. When I saw them, I thought it was a great idea. I still do… but I guess it’s just the shape and size of these toys that don’t work out so well for us.

WeVibe Glow

First, the Glow. Main problem? It’s just too small1. When I first saw pictures of it I got all excited because it resembles the LELO ELLA, which I love. But when I actually got it in my hands I was surprised by how dainty it is. Undeterred by the size, I went into testing it with an open mind. This is We-Vibe, I thought, and everything they do is pure magic. I inserted the Tango into the Glow, lubed it up, stuck it in my vag, started thrusting with it – and was completely underwhelmed. It’s like, nothing about it stimulated me in the least. My G-spot didn’t even know it was there. I was sick with disappointment and immediately felt the dread of having to write a negative review, which was the last thing I wanted to do with a We-Vibe product.

But, it is what it is. The Glow just doesn’t do it for me. You win some and you lose some. On the bright side, I got the Glow as part of the Pleasure Mates Collection so I now have a pretty pearly white Tango in my possession – all is not lost. Interestingly, while my vagina thought the Glow was as boring as watching paint dry, my clit loved it. Go figure. The vibrations from the Tango travel through the Glow nicely into the head and with the head on my clit, orgasms happen. And it was much easier to hold onto than just the Tango on its own.

As much as I like it for clitoral stimulation I can’t really give it a glowing review because for me, it failed at its intended purpose. I’m sure there are some people out there that will like it, mostly those who are looking for something smaller. I have no complaints whatsoever about the quality of the Glow or Dusk. I think if We-Vibe made a larger version of the Glow, with more girth, a larger head and bit more length, they’d have a winner.

WeVibe Dusk

So, what about the Dusk2?  The first thing I tried was to achieve this alleged “hands-free” orgasm I’ve been hearing about. Supposedly, if you put the Tango in the Dusk and put the Dusk in your vagina, you can just sit there and lazily have orgasms auto-magically. I don’t doubt that this can work for some folks because, when I had it inserted, the Tango did rest on my clit, and if I could get off by just sticking a vibe on my clit and leaving it there then it probably would have worked. But for whatever reason, that’s not my clit’s jam. It likes to be rubbed with a vibrator. There has to be that mechanical motion combined with the vibration to make the magic happen.

But that’s not really what the Dusk was made for anyway. How is it as a butt plug? Well, for some reason, I just have not felt compelled to stick things in my ass lately. I knew I had to finish this review but for the life of me… I just did not want to put the Dusk in my ass. I guess my interest in butt play waxes and wanes. So, I told dizzyguy about my dilemma and he graciously stepped up to save the day. His verdict? Big thumbs down.

I put the Dusk with the tango in it, into his ass and proceeded to give him a blow job but the Dusk kept popping out. This is a problem I know all too well. Many a butt plug has been projected from my ass during the course of sexy activities. Some plugs do manage to stay inserted better than others but for dizzyguy, the Dusk wanted out of his butt in the worst way. He tried keeping it in while we had sex and I could tell it was distracting for him, as he clenched and tried to keep it from escaping. And toward the big finish, it did finally launch itself from his ass. So it would seem that dizzyguy had about as much luck with the Dusk as I did with the Glow. The only clear winner here is the Tango that I got as part of the set.

Since the Glow and Dusk are made of silicone, they are body-safe and water-based lube is recommended.  You can clean the Glow, Dusk and Tango with soap and water or a 10% bleach solution to sanitize.  The Pleasure Mates Collection comes nicely packaged and a single pouch to hold everything is included.  You can also buy the Glow and Dusk separately but the Tango is not included.  You get a one year warranty on these We-Vibe products.

It is with a heavy heart that I have to write anything less than a stellar review for a We-Vibe product but not all sex toys are going to be right for all people. The Glow and Dusk were just wrong for the both of us. That’s not to say that they wouldn’t work for someone else. I think if you need a smaller toy for insertion, the Glow might work for you. And if your ass is really good at keeping butt plugs in place, maybe the Dusk would be right for you. Unfortunately, I just can’t say if either one of them will be a perfect fit. All I really can say is that neither were perfect for us. Incompatibilities aside, I do think these are quality products and I’d expect nothing less from We-Vibe.

OVO S2

This is a lay-on vibrator. I don’t lay face down to masturbate. So, why the hell did I get this thing to review? It’s a long story. Anyhow, I thought I’d give it a try before I automatically concluded that it’s just not made for me.

First off, it was difficult from the stock photos I saw, to tell the exact shape of the OVO S2. I thought with that almost pointed tip on one end, it could work for the way I masturbate but it doesn’t. Since it’s made to lie upon, all the vibration is concentrated in that large rounded hump, which doesn’t do a damn thing for my clit.

But what if masturbating lying down was my jam? Would it be any good then? I’m guessing, no. The vibrations are pretty weak and buzzy and you only get two settings of steady vibration. Of course, you don’t have to lie on it. You could hold it and rub it on your clit but that doesn’t work for me either.

I was kind of interested in the OVO line because they have lower cost rechargeable vibrators. They have battery operated vibes as well. But the S2 isn’t good for me and I’m not sure it’ll be good for anyone, even if you do lie face down to get off. I don’t know, maybe some of their other vibes are better. I would hope so.

No, there’s just really not much for me to like here. I mean, it is waterproof and made of body-safe materials. It’s USB rechargeable1. It comes with a rarely seen 15 year warranty. All of those points are positive but none of it really matters if the vibe can’t get you off.

Wish I could give you a suggestion for a better vibe but I know jack shit about lay-on vibes. I could tell you all about some good ones that you don’t necessarily lie down on though. Matter of fact, you can always visit my Toy Chest page to get a quick idea of which vibes I like and which ones I don’t.

OVO S2 bottom

So, operation… there are two buttons. There are no markings on them. You press and hold the one nearest the edge to turn it on. Keep pressing it to cycle through the two, yes two, steady vibrations and then into the patterns, of which there are five. Press the button above that one to step back down through the functions and press and hold the button that you turned in on with, to turn it off.

The underside, where the buttons are, is silicone and the top part is hard plastic that does carry the very buzzy vibrations pretty well.

You don’t get a storage pouch but the box is sturdy and suitable for storage.

This isn’t much of a review but really, there’s not much I can say about the OVO S2. It’s boring and just oh, so wrong for me. On the bright side, it looks like the next time I run a “take my sex toys for the price of shipping” deals, someone’s gonna get this one – if they want it. I think for OVO to improve, they really need to work on the vibrations. These are high-pitched whiny buzzy vibrations that numb you in seconds flat. If you’re into that, then you might like this vibe but I don’t and so, I’ll have to say pass on this one.

So, some folks think I may have gotten this all wrong.  They say that this is a “lay-on” vibrator meaning it lays on the vulva.  OK, maybe… could be.  They compare it to the Layaspot.  Well, the Layaspot is shaped to actually contour the vulva.  Plus, I know that women often lie on top of the Layaspot and grind on it to get off.  Now, look at the shape of this thing.  Does it look like it should be lying on top of the vulva?  It doesn’t look right to me for that.  It looks more like you’re meant to lie or squat down on it and grind on the hump – where the vibration is strongest.  In any case, it still sucks.  The vibrations leave a lot to be desired.

And it reminds me of one of these:

Rocks-off Bamboo

It’s pretty much what you’d expect from a $25 vibe. It’s not powerful and it’s very much surface buzzy. However, it can actually give me orgasms that feel pretty good. Granted the first time, I was coming off a dry spell and a subtle breeze across my clit might have done the job just as well. But it is what it is… an inexpensive vibe. And I know there are folks looking for just that.

If you don’t need a lot of power and you like buzzy vibrations then the Bamboo by Rocks-Off is probably going to be a great little vibe for you. It’s just the type that you can tuck into your purse or pack for a trip. It would be great for travel because you wouldn’t be heartbroken if it got lost, damaged or stolen. You could pack the single AAA battery separately to avoid any vibrating luggage incidents.Bamboo open

I hesitate to recommend cheaper buzzier vibes to beginners simply because they’re inexpensive. Just because someone is a beginner, it doesn’t mean that weak and buzzy vibrations are going to get them off. But I can say that if you’ve never tried vibration on your clit before and you’re wondering if you’ll even like it, this wouldn’t be a terrible purchase. Just know that much more powerful rumbly vibrators do exist if this one doesn’t do it for you, though you’ll be paying quite a bit more for them.

I think my clit’s personality has been changing a bit lately because when I first felt the Bamboo’s vibration, I did not expect it to get me off. And yet it did, fairly easily. I also notice that I’m not using my powerful vibes at full throttle (on my clit) very much anymore. So, maybe I’m becoming more sensitive. That’s not to say that I don’t enjoy my more powerful, rumbly vibrators much more than the Bamboo but I’m still quite surprised that this little vibe can get the job done for me.

The Bamboo has three levels of steady vibration and annoyingly starts on the highest. The lowest level is far too weak for me and the highest level is too buzzy. So, I enjoy this vibe most on the middle setting. It does also have 7 patterns but I usually don’t care much about patterns and this vibe didn’t change my mind on that.

This vibe is waterproof and made of body-safe ABS plastic. You can use any kind of lube you like with it. Clean it up with soap and water or, if you feel the need to sanitize it, a mild 10% bleach solution can be used. One AAA battery is included and the vibe even has a 6 month guarantee.

Bamboo compared

Bamboo, Tango, Lipstick

The Bamboo certainly isn’t going to join the ranks of my favorite clit vibes but come on, what can you get these days for $25? Can you even feed a family at Taco Bell for that anymore? You know how some people wear their fake diamonds when they’re on vacation because they don’t want their good jewelry getting lost or stolen? This vibe is kind of like that. It works in a pinch and you can take it with you everywhere and not really have to worry about it.

I’m always trying to find decent inexpensive sex toys because I know that the luxury stuff just isn’t practical for some folks. I think this vibe is good for what it is and its price. If you know that this kind of vibe isn’t going to do it for you and you’re willing to spend more and would like something close to the same size, I highly recommend the We-Vibe Tango. But you really can’t directly compare the Bamboo to the Tango. They are very different vibrators at very different price points.

We-Vibe Tango

I always say, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” because more often than not, if a company tries to improve upon something that’s already great, they usually just screw it up. But every now and then, there’s an exception and the new We-Vibe Tango is one of them. I didn’t think there was much room for improvement on the original Tango but We-Vibe gave it a few slight tweaks, while preserving everything that was already awesome.

So many reviewers love the Tango and for good reason. It’s small but mighty with a deep satisfying, rumbly vibration. It’s without a doubt, the best bullet vibe out there. The only common complaint about the original Tango was the fiddly charging base. I don’t have the original Tango but I do have the now discontinued Salsa, which has the same round, fiddly charger and it was really the only thing I disliked about it. We-Vibe totally fixed all the problems with the original charger by making it square, instead of round and I think the magnets are stronger so, it attaches securely. Problem solved.

We-Vibe could have stopped there and would have achieved perfection but they added another little feature that the original Tango lacked. There is now a low battery indicator light on the base that flashes when it needs to be recharged.

The colors are also different than the original. I like the blue but I’m not all that excited about the pink.

Some have said that the new Tango is more powerful than the original but I can’t really tell a difference between it and my Salsa. That’s OK though because as it is, it has plenty of rumble and power to satisfy those who need strong vibration.

The new Tango and my old Salsa are two of my favorite vibes. They’re both so simple, yet effective. I don’t get much out of the patterns but I’m not much of a pattern gal anyway. The four levels of steady vibration are perfect though and it stays pretty rumbly from low to high. The Tango is a great vibe to use in conjunction with a G-spot toy for dual stimulation because it’s small enough that it doesn’t get in the way. This also makes it great to use while having sex.

The Tango is also great to use with other toys that have a bullet cavity, like Tantus’ vibrators or their new Perfect Plug Plus. It also fits in Fuze’s toys with bullet cavities, like the Ultra. And now you can get the Tango with its own accessories.

Tango bullet cavities

In addition to the four levels of steady vibration there are four patterns of pulsation and escalation. There is a single button on the base and you press and hold to turn it on. Press and hold to turn it off or cycle through all of the functions. The Tango doesn’t have a travel lock and that’s about the only thing I think We-Vibe could add to make this vibe even better than it already is.

This vibe is USB rechargeable but it doesn’t come with an A/C wall adapter so, if you need one, you can get it here. It takes 90 minutes to fully charge and during charging the light on the charging base stays on. It goes off when charging is complete. A full charge is supposed to supply you with 2 hours of run time. I’m not really sure about that since I never run it down completely in one session.

Since the Tango is water-proof and made of nonporous, body-safe ABS plastic, it’s easy to clean with soap and water, a toy cleaner or a 10% bleach solution to sanitize. We-Vibe says to use water-based lube with the Tango but I don’t see why you couldn’t use silicone-based or hybrid lube. I guess they’re concerned about the silicone at the base but I haven’t had any problems using silicone-based lube.

It is nicely packaged and the box can be used for storage but it also comes with a pouch and you get a one year warranty.

The We-Vibe Tango is a great little, power-packed vibrator. What more can I say? It’s versatile and affordable so, if you’re on the fence about getting one, I say do it… now. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

Sensuelle Point

What’s the meaning of this? I want to speak to someone in charge. You do NOT try to impersonate the greatest bullet vibe ever made without bringing your A game. The Sensuelle Point looks a lot like it’s trying to be a We-Vibe Salsa and if you didn’t see a size comparison, you might think it was one. I admit, the resemblance is what piqued my interest. That and the claim, “it’s a new breed of bullet that will redefine what a good bullet is.” Does the Point bring it? Yeah, sort of… but it’s still not going to replace my Salsa. Then again, I do have an unnatural obsession with that thing.

The Point is one surprising little powerhouse, I will give ’em that. I actually jumped a little the first time I turned it on. It surprised me how powerful it was. So, I wouldn’t say they’re embellishing on their claim that it’s powerful. Well, if it’s so powerful then why doesn’t it measure up to my Salsa? It’s the pitch of the vibration. By that I mean, is it surface level buzzy or does it penetrate deeply with a rumbly vibration? That’s where the big difference is for me. The Salsa is rumblier and therefore, it feels better to me. I really can’t judge the Point without comparing it to the Salsa. On it’s own, I think it’s a great bullet but if I have to choose, it’s going to be the Salsa every time, unless the battery is dead and in that case, the Point is a very good substitute. Still, the vibration isn’t quite as rumbly and it makes me numb more than the Salsa does.

What I find interesting is that unlike most vibrators I’ve tried, I don’t like this one set on high. Again, I think it’s the pitch of the vibration coupled with the intensity. It’s just ever so slightly on the buzzy side but not terribly so. However, with the impressive intensity of it on high, it just feels a bit overwhelming to me. If it were a deeper, lower pitch vibration I think I would love it on high but it works best for me on medium. Low really does feel quite good but it’s just not intense enough to bring me to orgasm.

If you like patterns then the Point is definitely for you. It has 17 of them plus the 3 levels of steady vibration. It’s all a bit much for me. Too many to scroll through to find the one you want and since it just has one button, if you go past the one you want, you have to start all over again. That’s fine though, because I’m not the biggest fan of patterns anyway and rarely venture beyond the steady vibration modes of any vibe. The Point does have one pattern that I really do like though and it’s the 15th one (I think), which feels kind of like a flutter but since I have to scroll through so many others to get there, I don’t really use it. The time spent getting to the mode I want can be all it takes for me to lose my mojo and that’s another reason why I tend to linger in steady vibration land.

sensuelle point details

What’s it made of? Good question. The manufacturer’s website says it’s “twice dipped in silicone” but it really looks and feels a lot more like PU coated plastic and the instruction sheet says it’s ABS with no mention of silicone.  It also doesn’t attract lint AT ALL, unlike most silicone. Either way, both materials are nonporous, phthalates free and body safe. The discrepancy is just strange. It does have a really nice soft silky feel with very little drag. It can be washed in antibacterial soap and water or you could use a toy cleaner.  To sanitize it, you can wipe it down with a 10% bleach solution.

The instruction sheet warns you against wetting the “base of the bullet” and the box says it’s “water resistant”.  I interpret this to mean that unfortunately, this vibe is only splash-proof, which means you can’t submerge it.   However, another reviewer had contact with the company and was told that the bullet actually is fully waterproof and that the instruction sheet was referencing the charging base and not the “base of the bullet” (which is what it actually says).  Make of that what you will.  So of course, if it is in fact only splash-proof, you can’t use it in the bath but you could probably get away with using it in the shower.  The instruction sheet says water and oil based lubes can be used. If this is PU coated plastic (and I really do think it is) then I don’t see any reason you couldn’t use silicone-based or hybrid lube.

IMG_2103

Tip: Put a little lube on the bullet before you insert it.

The Point measures 3.5” long and .84” in diameter. I thought for sure that it would be too big to fit into the bullet cavity of Tantus vibrating dildos but it does.1 In fact, it seems to slide in and out easier than the Salsa/Tango. The end does stick out a bit but it’s totally useable, just not in a harness. The vibration does travel nicely through the Tantus silicone.

I actually like the Point’s charger better than the one you get with the Salsa/Tango. The charger for the Salsa/Tango is kind of fiddly and sometimes you have to carefully lay it down just right to keep the connection between the charger and vibrator. The Point sits down in its charging base and I think this configuration works much better. The charging base has kind of a cheap feel to it but if you treat it gently, you probably won’t have any problems. You push the Point down into the base and twist it around until the contacts line up and the light on the charger will start flashing green and red to let you know it’s charging. When it’s fully charged the light will glow steady green. It takes 4 hours to fully charge and that yields 1 hour of run time. The Point is USB rechargeable and surprisingly, an outlet adapter is included for when you don’t want to charge it through your computer. I think it is very cool that they included the adapter, most companies don’t.

pointcolors

The purple in that picture looks nothing like the one I have.

The Point comes in four colors – pink, purple, black and silver (which obviously isn’t silicone dipped).   A white, branded storage pouch is included. Novel Creations’ website indicates that their products have a one year warranty but I can’t find any mention of it on the packaging or the instruction sheet.

I think the Sensuelle Point is a good buy. I have no problem recommending it. If you can only buy one bullet, I’m going to tell you to get a We-Vibe Tango (because the Salsa has been discontinued) but if you’re looking for something sort of similar but a little different, this is a nice one to add to your collection. It is surprisingly powerful and definitely beats most other bullets out there and it is a bit more affordable than the Tango. However, with the new and improved Tango hitting the stores, you’re probably going to find some good deals on the original one soon.

LELO isn’t a company that I promote anymore. I encourage you to read this before purchasing their products.

“I want my Salsa.” That’s what I kept repeating in my head as I used the LELO Mia 2 for the first time. I actually longed for it… yearned for it but I was determined to finish the session with the Mia 2 and eventually, I did get there but the journey wasn’t nearly as much fun and reaching my destination wasn’t as satisfying as when I use my beloved Salsa.

I guess I was expecting something with more rumble and power, since this is LELO we’re talking about here. The Mia 2 feels buzzier than the Salsa, though nowhere nearly as buzzy as some other clit vibes I’ve tried (like the Pyxis) and slightly less powerful than the Salsa. I mean, it feels alright and all but I’d never choose it over the Salsa, unless maybe when traveling. I guess the advantages that the Mia 2 does have are its travel lock and USB charging. Now, normally I hate USB charging but in this case, with the small (but bigger than the Salsa/Tango) discreet Mia 2, I can see how it would work well for travel, as long as you were bringing your laptop along. If not, you’d need one of those USB to A/C adapters that I’m always recommending for USB rechargeable sex toys.

So far, I’ve been pretty satisfied with the LELO vibrators I’ve tried. They do make the epic Mona 2 that I am head over heels for. The Mia 2? I don’t love it but I do like it. Had I never felt the Salsa on my clit, I’d probably have a different opinion. I still think it’s well worth the money and if I were recommending clit vibes to a friend, the Mia 2 would make the list.

Maybe my obsession with the Salsa clouds my judgment when assessing other small clit vibes but none have quite measured up in terms of strength and rumble. There are some folks out there who really love their Mia 2s and yes, some of them even have Salsas/Tangos of their own. It’s OK to really like a sex toy though, right? I mean, you can’t fall madly in love with all of them. It’s still really great to have toys that you like a lot but don’t quite love because variety is the spice of life. And if I found my Salsa dead at an inconvenient time, then I’d be happy that I could reach over and grab the Mia 2 to finish the job.

So, the Mia 2 is a solid, well made clit vibe and I really like it but it would have to be a bit stronger and rumblier to make me love it. That said, I don’t think you can really go wrong if you decide to buy it because it is LELO and with that comes quality. They’ve come a long way since the original Mia, which I’ve heard was rather weak and not waterproof. Now the Mia 2 is fully waterproof, is more powerful than before and has a couple of additional patterns. The patterns don’t do a lot for me. They’re the same patterns that can be found on other LELO vibrators and are combinations of pulsation and escalation with the 5th pattern feeling kind of random and all over the place, which is nice if you want to keep your clit guessing. For me though, it’s all about the steady vibration cranked all the way up and with that, it is strong enough to get me off so, maybe I shouldn’t judge it too harshly.

mia2.2

There are two buttons (+ and -). You press and hold the + button to turn it on and continue to hold to increase the intensity, which is continuously adjustable, rather than preset levels. I like that kind of control and it’s pretty standard for LELO vibes. From the highest steady vibration you press and hold the + button and that will take you into the patterns, of which there are 5. Press the + button repeatedly to cycle through. To get back out of the patterns, you press the – button and to turn it off, press and hold the – button. The Mia 2 does have a travel lock and it’s activated by pressing both buttons at the same time for a few seconds and it unlocks the same way.

The Mia 2 is made almost entirely of glossy hard plastic but the buttons are silicone. These materials are nonporous, phthalates free and easy to clean. You can simply wash the Mia 2 in antibacterial soap and water or you can use a toy cleaner. If you need to sanitize it, you can bathe it in a 10% bleach solution. I bet you could get away with using silicone-based lube if you wanted to. I would have no reservations about doing so but if you’re worried about the silicone buttons then water-based lube is always a safe bet.

mia2.1

Charging takes about 1 hour and a full charge should give you 1.5 hours of run time. Standby mia-2time is 90 days. The light flashes while charging and glows steady when complete. The Mia 2 is a pretty quiet vibrator and you can’t hear it behind closed doors. It comes in three colors – black, petal pink and deep rose. Packaging is fairly nice and pretty standard for LELO. You get a black satiny storage pouch and LELO covers the Mia 2 with a one year warranty.

By no means would I banish the Mia 2 off to the drawer relegated to sex toy failures (which I’m running out of room in). Most of the time, it’s not going to be the first clit vibe I reach for but it will definitely stay in rotation and I think it’s a good back up for my Salsa. I would probably prefer to travel with the Mia 2 rather than the Salsa though, because I feel it’s more discreet, has a travel lock and is USB rechargeable. The Mia 2 is a solid little clit vibe. It’s not the most powerful I have but it’s certainly not the weakest and it gives me orgasms with relative ease. Given all that, I feel confident recommending the Mia 2 to anyone who’s looking for a quality clit vibe that’s great for travel.
