My mouth is a lot like my vagina – dry as the Mojave desert. I’ve preached from the rooftop about the benefits of using lube for vaginal and anal sex but never really mentioned how awesome lube is for blowjobs. That’s probably because I never actually tried it before. My mouth is so dry most of the time that I can’t give a good, sloppy, wet, prolonged blowjob. I suspect it has a lot to do with my meds. So, I had an epiphany. Why not use some lube to take my BJs to the next level?

Well, if I was going to put lube in my mouth, it wasn’t going to be just any lube. In much the same way that I am picky about the lube that goes into my vagina, I wanted a lube that I could trust if it was going into my mouth. And I thought, why shouldn’t it be a lube that tastes good too?

A lot of flavored lubes out there are loaded with the ingredients that I warn against and it was no question that I was going to go to my favorite lube company for my BJ lube – Sliquid. They have a pretty wide selection of flavors that seem more sophisticated than a lot of other flavored lubes on the market.

The first Sliquid Swirl lube that I ever tried was the Blue Raspberry and I LOVED IT! The taste is not overwhelming or sickly sweet. It’s subtle and has more scent than taste. The first time I gave dizzyguy a BJ with the Sliquid Swirl, it was clearly one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Needless to say, he loved it as much as I did.

So, since I enjoyed using the Blue Raspberry so much, I really wanted to try more of the Sliquid Swirl flavors. I asked them if I could review some additional flavors and they sent out a bottle of the Pink Lemonade and Pina Colada, as well as a couple of Lip Lickers Lube Cubes so I could sample some of the other flavors.

In all, I’ve tried the Blue Raspberry, Pink Lemonade, Pina Colada, Green Apple, Cherry Vanilla and Strawberry Pomegranate. I can honestly say, I didn’t hate any one of them, though I certainly liked some more than others. Since reviewing these Sliquid Swirl samples, I’ve noticed that they have a couple of new ones I’ve yet to try (not included in the Lip Lickers Lube Cube): Blackberry Fig and Tangerine Peach.

It’s kind of hard to list the flavors from best to meh. Like I said, none of them made me want to vomit or anything. I just knew that I wouldn’t be a big fan of a couple of flavors but that’s all personal taste. Some folks would probably really like the flavors that I like least.

But I’ll give it shot at ranking them by my preference:

1. Pink Lemonade
2. Blue Raspberry
3. Green Apple
4. Strawberry Pomegranate
5. Pina Colada
6. Cherry Vanilla

Even though I didn’t hate any of them, I would probably never use the Cherry Vanilla again. I just didn’t like the vanilla flavor but maybe you will. It’s worth a try to get the Lip Lickers Lube Cube so you can decide which flavors you like best before buying a full bottle.

I guess it’s pretty obvious why using a flavored lube would improve the quality of my blowjobs. One of the perks for me is, it tastes good (duh) and when dizzguy comes in my mouth, the flavor of the lube kind of mitigates the taste of the semen, which I’ve never been a big fan of. Another thing I should mention is that dizzyguy drinks a lot of smoothies with pineapple and mango and I think that also contributes to the improved taste of his semen.

Quite simply, I can just give a much better blowjob and dizzyguy certainly approves. My mouth and hand can slide easily up and down his penis and I can keep going for a longer period of time, leading to more happy endings.

I’ve been mentioning here on the blog and on Twitter about how my libido has tanked and it’s been that way for a very long time. It’s something I continue to struggle with and of course, it puts a strain on our sex life. So, I decided that even at times I didn’t feel like having sex, I could at least give dizzyguy some pleasure and release with a good BJ. That means I’m actually giving blowjobs leading to ejaculation more often than ever before. I guess if life gives you lemons… make lemonade – or rather, use some Sliquid Swirl Pink Lemonade!

I love this lube! Like seriously, it’s perfect. There’s not one thing about it I don’t like. It’s great to use with my sex toys. And since it’s from Sliquid, you know it’s not going to poison your vag.

I feel pretty confident recommending Sliquid’s lubes to people because I know that, for the most part, they aren’t going to have a bad reaction to them. These are formulas you can trust and while there is the rare reaction to aloe or citric acid (which are both in this lube), I think theirs are some of the most vagina-friendly lubes on the market.

After learning about lube in the workshop I attended at Woodhull’s SFS15, there are far fewer water-based lubes that I can recommend. I personally want to avoid ingredients like glycerin, parabens and propylene glycol so, I really wouldn’t feel right telling other people to use lube with those ingredients. That takes many water-based lubes off the table. But I know that Sliquid lubes are never going to have that crap. Sliquid Organics Natural Gel has an osmolality and pH that are conducive to having a healthy, happy vag. For more on what that means, read this.

So, beside the fact that it has a formula I am happy with, it’s just great lube. I love the consistency. I used to think that I didn’t like thicker lubes because I thought that they were all sticky and gooey. That is absolutely not the case with this lube. It’s nice and thick so, when I apply it to my sex toys, it doesn’t drip all over the place before I even have a chance to get ’em near my vag. But it doesn’t leave me feeling disgusting and sticky. It even passed the no shower test, in which I simply wipe off the lube with a washcloth and go about my business. I’ve tried other lubes that I couldn’t wait to wash off in the shower with soap but this lube left my vulva/vag feeling fine. No stickiness, itching, burning… nothing.

I don’t use water-based lube for sex with dizzyguy because it generally doesn’t last long enough. But if you do like using it for sex then I think this one should work out great for you. Thicker gel lubes like this one are a great choice for anal play because they have more cushioning to protect delicate tissues. Personally, I would opt for a silicone-based lube for anal sex simply because they last longer and feel slicker to me. But if you’re using a silicone sex toy then water-based lube is the safest choice¹.

I’d like to do a side-by-side comparison of the Organics Natural Gel and Sliquid’s other gel lube, Sassy. As far as I can tell, the only difference are the botanical extracts in the Organics Natural Gel. If you’re sensitive to aloe and you want a gel lube, you might give the Sassy a try.

I have absolutely nothing to complain about with the Sliquid Organics Natural Gel, except that I’d like a larger bottle with a pump. It performs well, feels great and it’s not a toxic soup of chemicals like so many other water-based lubes. So yes, get this lube if you want a happy vag and a happy butt! Believe me, when they’re happy, you’re happy.

If you’ve read my blog long enough, you probably know that dizzyguy and I are obsessed with a certain brand of silicone-based lube. We’ve tried others and none of them have measured up to our favorite – Wet Platinum. But now, I’ve found one that comes really damn close. Like a gnat’s whisker close to being as good as our favorite. In fact, if the unthinkable were to happen and they quit making Wet Platinum, we’d probably switch to this brand.

Sliquid Silver is a great silicone-based lube. But then everything Sliquid makes is pretty damn good. I have been in love with their hybrid lube, Silk but never tried the Silver. It feels a lot like our favorite lube in consistency and slickness. In use, it’s very similar to our favorite, keeping everything gliding along nicely. It’s only when we’ve been at it for a while that I feel like it starts to poop out on us. Our favorite silicone-based lube never lets us down like that. But for this to really be a problem, we’re talking about longer sessions that would probably challenge most lubricants.

It does seem to clean up easier than the Wet Platinum. This is just my half-assed theory but I think the harder a silicone-based lube is to wash off, the longer it stays slick during sex. At least, that’s how it seems to be with the various lubes I’ve tried. I know some folks despise how difficult it can be to wash off silicone-based lube so the fact that Sliquid Silver cleans up easier will probably appeal to them.

About the only thing I don’t like about Sliquid Silver (and Sliquid lubes in general) is the packaging and amount of product available. We buy our Wet Platinum in 32oz bottles with a large pump for easy application. Sliquid’s smaller squeeze bottles tend to get everything messy a lot easier. I do wish they’d make larger bottles with a pump. Maybe like, you only have to buy the pump once and it can go on all future bottles, something like that.

Here’s the thing that surprised the shit out of me. I just naturally expected Sliquid Silver to be more expensive than our Wet Platinum but it’s not. On the site where I normally buy our Wet Platinum, a 4.2oz bottle is $19.99, while at PeepShow Toys a 4.2oz bottle of Sliquid Silver is $15. So, there ya go… it’s very close to being as good as our favorite and it costs less. When does that ever happen?

I don’t use silicone-based lube with my sex toys very often but I’m sure the Silver would perform well. I have heard that the fewer ingredients that a silicone-based lube has, the better and Silver only has three. It’s one of those silicone-based lubes that has a good chance of being compatible with silicone sex toys. I know right now you’re probably questioning my sanity. Silicone-based lube with silicone sex toys? That’s a no-no, right? Well, sometimes it’s not.

The thing is, both the lube and the toy need to be made of high quality materials. What happens when silicone-based lube and a silicone sex toy are incompatible is that the surface of your toy will get permanently tacky. So, if you want to be completely safe, use water-based lube. But I and many other bloggers have successfully used silicone-based lube with our silicone sex toys. That said, I suggest that no matter what anyone says, if you’re going to try it, always do a spot test on the base of the toy and look for the reaction where the surface becomes tacky. If it does, obviously, don’t use that lube with that toy.

I’m not sure what else I can say – it’s lube. It reduces friction. It does what it’s made to do. But it does happen to do a much better job of it than other silicone-based lubes I’ve tested and it is the only one, so far, that’s come close to being as good as our beloved brand so, that’s saying something. We won’t be switching any time soon but Sliquid Silver is a great lube and a solid choice. I have no reservations at all in recommending it.
