Beck (from Beck and Her Kinks) invited me to participate in this blog tour and I’m glad she thought of me. There’s a wonderful sense of community amongst sex bloggers/reviewers and I’m happy to be a part of it.

What am I working on?

Only a crapload of reviews. OK, maybe not that many. I never really do seem to get caught up though. Too many toys and not enough time… but I’m thinking that’s a good problem to have. I’ve also spent quite a bit of time tweaking the blog lately. Just little things in terms of appearance and functionality. Probably things that nobody else will notice but I kind of enjoy the technical stuff (geek)… until it breaks. I’ve just recently started learning CSS and now that I’m understanding it a bit, it’s actually sort of fun to play around with how things look. But I seriously need to redirect my attention back toward writing reviews before my sponsors start hating me.

How does my work differ from others of its genre?

I don’t write erotica. My brain really doesn’t seem to work that way. My main focus is reviewing and I’m not sure that mine are all that unique and groundbreaking really. All reviewers pretty much cover the same points in their writing, though we all do have our unique styles. Some focus heavily on describing the features of a toy and others give you a lot more of their personal experience. I try to provide a mix of both. My readers have told me that they appreciate that I include personal experience and in my opinion, that really is the most important aspect of a review.

Some reviewers are very structured and write their reviews the same way every time; following a template. There’s nothing wrong with that but I prefer to write a bit more organically; allowing my thoughts to flow more easily. My goal is to write something that is at least, mildly entertaining. I try to be witty but… it doesn’t always work.

Why do I write what I do?

Well, I got into reviewing sex toys when I discovered that they could help ease the anorgasmia that I suffered from at the time. I was so incredibly excited about it all that I needed an outlet. I admired the other great bloggers/reviewers out there and thought I’d like to take a crack at it myself. Here I am, a little over a year later and I’m still doing it.

I admit, I started for largely selfish reasons. I wanted to be able to try new toys. I used to think that I got the toys for free but now that I know the work that goes into writing a good review, I no longer look at it that way. At some point, I started getting feedback from readers telling me that I helped them find sex toys that they love and that made me feel pretty good. So now, that’s a big part of why I do it.

How does your writing process work?

I’m not sure I really have a process. Maybe I need to get one, it might make things easier. Sometimes the thoughts and ideas flow so effortlessly and I wish it worked that way all the time. I often struggle to transform my thoughts into writing that I can be happy with. Sex toys that I’m indifferent about are the hardest for me to review. It’s a lot easier when I passionately love or hate a toy. But no matter how I feel about something, I think honesty is the most important thing and I hope that comes across to my readers.

To keep the blog tour rolling, I’m inviting the following bloggers to join in. Posts should be published next Monday and each should choose 5 new bloggers to participate.
