Wow, where did the year go? I know people always say that but it really seems like 2015 flew right by. It’s been another great year of reviewing and I am always so grateful that you all have continued to follow me and support my blog.
I was going to do a best and worst of 2015 post but ya know what? There’s already plenty of negativity out in the world so, I decided to focus on the best products I reviewed this year. That’s not to say there weren’t some duds (cough, PicoBong Transformer, cough) but there were some really great products that deserve the spotlight. Plus, I just didn’t have it in me to turn on the snark.
Vibrators
This year I found a new favorite clit vibe, the Jopen Lust L2. I honestly have been reaching for it more often than my We-Vibe Touch so, that’s saying something. It’s just perfect for me in every way and it has every single feature that I want in a clit vibe plus it lacks one I don’t – patterns. It’s also at an unbeatable price for the quality and features you get. Read the review.
OK, I have mixed feelings about LELO lately. I kind of feel like they’ve been focusing too much on gimmicky features and they just recently raised their prices across the board which makes it really hard to justify buying or promoting their products. That said, one of my favorite vibrators that I reviewed this year is the SIRI 2. It has a gimmicky sound response feature that I have no use for and I wish they would have done without it and just lowered the price because it is a nice clit vibe. Read the review.
Next, we have an iconic wand massager with updates that make it damn near perfect. The Magic Wand Original (Hitachi) is one of the most well-known wand massagers and it’s been around since forever but it has some shortcomings. The new Magic Wand Rechargeable addresses those issues. First, it’s rechargeable, obviously. It also has more than the two uber powerful settings that the Original has and they’ve given it a silicone head, which is so much better than the vinyl head on the Original. This is still a powerhouse wand massager but I’m so glad that it has a couple of lower settings because the higher settings can be too much for me. Read the review.
Rounding out the bunch, this vibrator is truly luxury class and the price reflects that. It’s hard for me to recommend this vibe because of the high price tag but it really was one of my favorites for the year. The L’amourose Rosa Rouge is one surprisingly powerful vibrator. It’s actually built to be a dual stimulator with two motors but it doesn’t work that way for me. I still love it for G-spot stimulation though. This vibe has gotten praise amongst reviewers and for good reason. The Rouge has an extra feature – heat – and it’s more expensive than the Rosa. So if that heating feature isn’t important to you, and it really isn’t for me, then definitely go for the Rosa. Read the review.
The one thing I wish they’d done differently with the Rosa/Rouge was change the base and just make it into a handle, effectively creating a G-spot dildo, instead of a dual stimulator. I even mentioned that in my review… and to my delight, it looks like L’amourose had the same idea. They are coming out with two new vibrators, the Prism V and Prism VII (which is like a rabbit vibe). I desperately want to get my hands and vagina on the Prism V and I’m going to try like hell to get one for review. So cross your fingers for me that I can get one and it probably wouldn’t hurt if you told L’amourose that you want me to review it.
Dildos
Is it really any surprise that I have three Tantus dildos on my best-of list this year? Well, it shouldn’t be because they really are one of the best companies making some of the best silicone sex toys money can buy. They’re an ethical company and a joy to work with as a reviewer. They’re one of the few that really care about the customer’s experience with their products and actually have real people test their designs and make changes based on feedback. What a concept, right?
The first Tantus dildo that I loved this year was a brand new design – sort of. The Duchess is an O2 dual density vibrating dildo but the shape of it is exactly the same as the Duke, which is made of Tantus’ standard firm silicone. I liked the Duke but I love the Duchess. It’s a large dildo for me to handle but that squish of the O2 silicone makes it easier for me to manage and that massive head gives me fantastic G-spot stimulation. Read the review.
At the time it was released, it was Tantus’ only O2 vibrating dildo available but now they’ve added a new one – the Alan. Alan is a super realistic O2 vibrating dildo and it comes packaged with a bullet vibe (as all Tantus’ vibrating dildos do) and the compatible suction cup that is usually a separate purchase. I may get around to testing the Alan in the new year.
The next two Tantus dildos that I loved this year are classic designs that have been around awhile and that’s probably because they’re so perfect. The G-Spot vibrating dildo is one of my faves but I kind of think it’s underrated. In fact, it’s not something that really caught my attention but Tantus sent me one out of the blue (they’re known to do that sometimes) and I’m so glad that they did because this dildo rocks my G-spot. Read the review.
Then there’s The Vamp and I love it because it’s just a workhorse of a dildo. There’s nothing overly fancy about it but it gets the job done. There’s no annoying texture and it’s not an extremely realistic dildo. The girth is satisfying and if you can handle the size, I do recommend it as an introduction to Tantus’ products. The good news is that the Vamp is often in Tantus’ Grab Bag selection and comes at a significantly discounted price, which is another good reason to make it your first Tantus dildo. Read the review.
A Vixen dildo made it onto my Best of 2015 list – the VixSkin Buck. I am one of the many who are obsessed with the VixSkin Mustang and since trying Vixen’s dual density VixSkin, all I wanted was to get another one. I’ve heard wonderful things about the Maverick but I’m concerned that I wouldn’t be able to handle the girth so, I went for the Buck and let me tell you, it is heavenly. VixSkin silicone feels like nothing else you can buy and Buck is nice and girthy but not too much. It’s hard for me to say which I love more – the Mustang or the Buck. They’re both great choices. Read the review.
The last item I’m going to add to the best dildos list is actually an attachment for a wand massager but it is a dildo too. The Vixen Gee Whizzard paired with the Magic Wand Rechargeable produced some seriously intense squirting orgasms. I highly recommend this Wand attachment and it also fits the Magic Wand Original and Doxy Wand. Read the review.
Kink
I don’t test/review many kink or BDSM products. It’s just not something I’m into in a big way, though I do like to occasionally experiment with “tamer” products. That’s where the KinLab Neon Wand comes in. This thing is just seriously cool. It looks and sounds kind of scary but trust me, if dizzyguy and I can handle it then you know it’s not all that hard-core. It’s definitely an item that can add a whole new dynamic to how you play in the bedroom (or kitchen, or wherever). To give you an idea of what it does, take a look at this picture I captured of the electricity arcing to my nipple. The pic is obviously NSFW. Read the review.
Lube
Wrapping up my Best of 2015 list are a couple of water-based lubes that became instant favorites. First is Sliquid Organics Natural Gel. I love Sliquid and I can pretty much recommend anything they make, even if I haven’t tried it because I know they use safe ingredients in their products. The Organics Natural Gel won me over with its wonderfully thick consistency that works so well for coating my toys and not dripping all over the place. It feels great, lasts long and doesn’t leave me feeling sticky or gross. Read the review.
The next lube I fell in love with is Good Clean Love Almost Naked Lube. I like it for the same reasons as Sliquid’s Organics Natural Gel. It’s made of safe ingredients and it’s so thick that it clings to my toys without dripping everywhere. I only wish I could get the stuff in bigger bottles. Read the review.
And there you have it. The best products I tried in 2015. There are actually a couple more items that I would add to the list but I haven’t reviewed them yet and I probably won’t get to them before the end of the year. Those are the Fun Factory Miss Bi, which is a rabbit vibe that actually works for me, and the Fucking Sculptures G-Spoon, which I can’t rave about enough. It’s as equally beautiful as it is effective for hitting my G-spot and AFE Zone, depending on how I use it.
So, I just noticed that there are no anal toys on the list. I don’t think I even reviewed any this year. Not sure what’s up with that but my interest in anal play waxes and wanes so maybe 2015 just wasn’t the year of the butt. Better luck next year.
Ooh, this is the first I’ve heard of the Prism line from L’amorouse. I came so close to buying a Rosa but I had issues just looking at the weird clitoral stimulation part. I need serious pressure on my clit and that shape is sooo weird. And not accessible. And I heard how much the internal part actually rocked for clits (which was honestly what I was more interested in, a good non wand clitoral vibe with serious power) but holding the darn thing to use it that way seemed super annoying. Prism looks like a truly versatile multi purpose vibe, so long as it is as powerful as the Rosa. And my gosh, look at the pretty colors! Ideally Prism should be a little cheaper I’d think too. So woot, can’t wait till those come out and you and the other bloggers review!
I hope I get to review it. I’ve been contacting the company and have gotten no response. Which is odd because they were so easy to work with in the past.
I hope you do too. Maybe they’re just not at the point in production where they’re even ready to send them out to reviewers? Let’s hope so otherwise that sucks.
I thought Buck and Maverick had the same girth but Buck was slightly more tapered and an inch shorter? Or did I find the wrong specs online?
And I need to go read your Duchess review right now. I’m really loving the look of that one and I love having the vibration option.
I must be the rarest if the rare in that Sliquid organics burns me. Don’t know if its the citric acid or the aloe but I bought a bigger bottle and instantly regretted that! No problems vaginally but on my vulva it burns terribly. Like racing to wash it off and trying not to scream. I’m still on the hunt for the perfect lube though I won a contest that included two Pink lubes. No problems but they dry up way, way too fast. I have been meaning to try some other Sliquid.
Buck starts out smaller and gradually gets bigger toward the base. Maverick starts big.
It could very well be the Aloe. I’ve been hearing about people being sensitive to it. You should try Sliquid’s other line, the non-organic. I don’t think those have Aloe.
Ahh, okay. Bummer that the Buck is only skin tones (since I mentioned I’ve heard Vixen still has a few Mavericks in TieBright left) because yeah, that does sound better.
What sucks with Sliquid is their Satin lube also has Aloe and that’s the one they are recommending for daily use and women with dryness issues. I’ve got an autoimmune disease that attacks mucus membranes so I was looking for something I could also use for general dryness and originally the Satin was what I wanted but the shop I ordered from didn’t have it (ordered some new toys and tossed a lube onto my order because I kept procrastinating buying it). Kind of funny but I’ve found more frequent masturbation has made a marked difference in my dryness. At least I’m having way less irritation from being so dry. I don’t get anywhere near wet enough even then as I used to and need to use lube even for small silicone dildos/insertable vibes but it’s helped. So I guess I can justify sex toy purchases as a medical expense. 😉
I still want a few of the toys you mentioned on this list and have yet to get my hands on them.
